Feeders do work!  We have gone to shelled corn.  We are no longer using the cobbed corn as posted below.  We have seen pheasants, squirrel, rabbits, turkeys, and even deer eating out of the feeders.  Be careful with the deer they like to destroy the screens so they can eat more.
